The Story Behind The Munce Medal
Reverend Munce donated the medal
Our school has a rich history of fostering academic excellence and personal growth. Since our founding in 1939, we have been committed to providing a nurturing and inspiring environment for our pupils.
One of our cherished traditions is the Munce Medal, awarded weekly to one outstanding pupil. This tradition began in 2009 when Rev Dr. Fred Munce donated a special medal to our school. The school started awarding it to just one of the winners of our weekly certificates in Assembly. Each week, 2 certificates are awarded for various achievements from all classes, and from the 14 certificate holders, one Munce Medal winner is chosen and celebrated. Unfortunately, the original medal was mislaid many years ago when pupils were allowed to take it home. It was replaced and has been awarded weekly since 2009. At the end of each term, these winners enjoy a special party.
